Consultancy Fees
My consultancy rates reflect the specialist knowledge required to ensure scientific integrity, clear communication, and high‑quality outputs tailored to each client’s needs. I work on an hourly basis after the minimum project fee, with rates depending on project type and complexity. Turnaround times vary by project size, but most reviews and consultations are completed within an agreed timeframe once work begins.
A minimum project fee of £3,000 applies to all consultancy work.
This covers project onboarding, preparation, and the initial scientific review, ensuring your project begins with a clear, accurate scientific foundation before full consultancy work begins.
Film and television projects requiring formal contracts begin at £6,000.
Major museum, theme park projects and exhibitions begin at £10,000.
Dinosaur Accuracy Audits are commissioned within consultancy work and carry a separate fee beyond the £10,000 minimum project fee. As the audit requires an in‑person visit, on‑site days, travel, accommodation, and expenses these are charged in addition.
Video‑game projects vary widely in scope. Many require deeper scientific integration and therefore often fall into the £6,000+ range.

FAQs
How far in advance should I get in touch?
Most projects are scheduled a few weeks ahead, especially for larger reviews or media collaborations. Early enquiries help secure availability and give time to understand your project’s needs.
What kinds of deliverables do you provide?
I keep my consultancy process simple and focused. Deliverables typically include annotated notes, written feedback, consultation calls, and ongoing scientific guidance for longer or evolving projects. Each collaboration receives a tailored combination of these based on your goals and the needs identified during the initial scientific review.
Do you work with early‑stage ideas or only completed scripts or videos?
Both. Whether you are developing early concepts or refining a completed script or video, all projects begin with the initial scientific review to establish a clear foundation.
Can you work under NDA or with confidential material?
Yes. I regularly work with confidential scripts, video treatments, and editorial materials, and I am comfortable signing NDAs when required by production teams or creators.
Do you work with museums and themed attractions?
Yes. I provide scientific guidance for museum exhibitions, dinosaur models, animatronics, and themed attractions. This includes support for animatronic performance accuracy, creature motion, show‑set integration, and collaboration with creative, fabrication, and SFX teams to ensure prehistoric creatures are scientifically accurate and compelling for guests.
Do you offer ongoing support for multi‑episode or multi‑video projects?
Yes. I often collaborate with creators and media teams across multiple episodes or recurring content. Ongoing support can be arranged with an agreed timeline and clear expectations following the initial scientific review.
What happens after I submit the contact form?
I review your message and request any materials I need. If your project is a good fit, we schedule a free introductory call to discuss your goals. After the call, I send a project agreement outlining the scope and rate. Once approved, the £3,000/£6,000 minimum project fee is invoiced. This fee covers onboarding, preparation, and the initial scientific review. After this review, the project continues with hourly consultancy work as agreed.
Do you fact‑check full scripts or video drafts?
Yes. I can review full scripts, video drafts, or article layouts, or focus on specific sections that need scientific clarity. The level of detail depends on your project’s needs and the agreed scope.
How do you support YouTube creators and podcasters with scientific accuracy?
I fact‑check scripts, review scientific claims, and provide clear guidance on presenting palaeontology and Earth Science topics. I help creators refine explanations and avoid common scientific errors. This ensures your videos and episodes remain accurate, engaging, and credible.
How do you balance scientific accuracy with creative storytelling?
I highlight the essential scientific details while showing where creative interpretation is possible. This keeps your project scientifically sound without limiting narrative freedom. The result is storytelling that feels both engaging and credible.
Do you work with clients outside the UK?
Yes. I collaborate with international clients across media, publishing, museums, exhibitions, and themed‑entertainment projects. All consultancy work is delivered digitally, with optional on‑site support available for UK projects and international productions that cover travel and accessibility requirements.
Do you offer a Dinosaur Accuracy Audit?
Yes. For museum exhibits, travelling exhibitions, theme‑park attractions, and animatronic dinosaur projects, a Dinosaur Accuracy Audit can be commissioned as part of my consultancy work. The £10,000 minimum project fee covers contract review, onboarding, and early consultation. The Audit carries a separate fee, quoted individually based on the number of models, zones, animatronic movement, environmental storytelling, guest walkthroughs, and any required on‑site days. As the Audit requires an in‑person site visit, travel, accommodation, and expenses are charged in addition.
Do you design or build dinosaur models or animatronics?
I provide scientific accuracy guidance for physical reconstructions, including life‑size dinosaur models and animatronics. This covers anatomy, posture, proportions, integument, and behavioural interpretation. I do not design or build the physical models or animatronics myself, but I work alongside artists, sculptors, and fabrication teams to ensure the final reconstruction is scientifically sound.
What I don’t do
I focus on scientific accuracy, narrative clarity, and creative guidance. I do not offer engineering, fabrication, 3D modelling, artwork creation, or full production services. My role is to support the teams who handle these areas, ensuring their work aligns with current palaeontological understanding.
