Palaeontology outreach has offered me the privilege of attending exclusive events that celebrate natural history, dinosaur science, and palaeontology’s role in public engagement. These experiences not only enhance my knowledge but also strengthen collaborations within the field.

Behind the Scenes with a Dinosaur Revival

Walking With Dinosaurs DK Exclusive Event (2025)

An exclusive advanced screening and Q&A with co-executive producers Andrew Cohen and Helen Thomas, alongside showrunner Kirsty Wilson, explored the creation of the 2025 Walking With Dinosaurs series, its influence on public understanding, and the development of its companion book. Tori Kosara hosted an engaging panel with the book’s authors and series creators, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the project.

I was invited to review Walking With Dinosaurs: Uncovering the Secret Stories of Prehistoric Life on release, offering insights on its palaeontological themes and public science value.

“It was a pleasure to work with James as a reviewer. He was responsive, providing links and regular updates, and gave a detailed and thoughtful book review in which his expertise in the subject matter shone through.”

Life on Our Planet in Concert (2024)

I had the privilege of attending an awe-inspiring live orchestral performance by the Welsh National Opera Orchestra at Bristol Beacon, which brought Earth’s evolutionary story to life. Stunning visuals from the Netflix series, accompanied by expert narration, immersed the audience in the journey of life on Earth, uniting palaeontologists, filmmakers, and science communicators.

This event offered a valuable opportunity to evaluate its influence on science communication. For me, it reinforced the powerful role of live performance in uniting science with the senses.
