Explore the fascinating world of palaeontology in Dinosaur Action Magazine, where I had the privilege of being the first featured palaeontologist!
My interview was published in Issue 170 on November 17, 2022, marking a special opportunity to inspire young minds to explore the wonders of prehistoric life.
About the Magazine
Dinosaur Action is the leading dinosaur magazine for children aged 5–8 years old. Packed with full-colour activities, fun facts, images, games, and puzzles, the magazine keeps young readers engaged for hours while sparking curiosity about science and palaeontology.

Why Science Communication Matters
Partnering with Dinosaur Action Magazine was an incredible experience, allowing me to share insights with young learners and families. Dinosaurs are often the gateway into scientific discovery for children, fuelling their curiosity about natural history and the natural world.
By making palaeontology accessible, I hope to ignite a lasting interest in science, one that leads to lifelong learning and exploration.
How did you become a palaeontologist?
I did a degree in geography and then a masters in Palaeobiology. Volunteering in museums, reading and fossil hunting are just as important as studying the subjects.
How Dinosaurs Inspire Young Minds
From a young age, I was captivated by the colossal creatures that once roamed our planet. Questions filled my mind, how big did dinosaurs actually get? How did carnivores and herbivores coexist? Why were there so many different species?
The more I read, the longer my list of questions became. Hearing from scientists conducting research and fieldwork only deepened my fascination. Understanding dinosaur fossils felt like solving an ancient puzzle, each discovery adding another piece to the story.
Exploring the Jurassic Coast
Visiting the Jurassic Coast allowed me to connect with the landscape in a new way, not only through fossil hunting but by learning about the region’s geological history. Witnessing fossil discoveries first-hand reinforced my appreciation for the ongoing scientific breakthroughs in palaeontology.
What’s your favourite dinosaur fact?
My favourite fact is that hadrosaurs were very social dinosaurs. They lived in big herds, and we have fossil evidence of their nests, and their migrations due to the trace fossils of their footprints which have been found.
The Wonder of Palaeontology
Uncovering the life history of dinosaurs is a never-ending pursuit. Just like a puzzle, each research breakthrough fits another piece into the bigger picture, revealing more about how dinosaurs lived, interacted, and evolved.
Through this interview, I hope to pass on that same sense of wonder, encouraging young readers to ask questions, explore, and discover the incredible world around them. Every fossil tells a story, and the next great discovery could be yours!
