In this article I cover the new official trailer for Walking With Dinosaurs a new reimagining of the iconic 1999 dinosaur documentary series.
Walking With Dinosaurs Returns
Over 25 years after the premiere of the original Walking With Dinosaurs series, the iconic show is set to return this June. The new series, produced by BBC Studios and PBS, is a co-production with ZDF and France Télévisions.
The official trailer release was teased three days ago in this short video by BBC Earth. Anticipation for the upcoming trailer has been building in the past few days and today was the day that the BBC decided to drop the official trailer to highlight what dinosaur fans the world over can expect from the show this summer.
Check Out the Official Trailer!
The upcoming Walking With Dinosaurs series is to be shown on PBS, BBC One and BBC iPlayer and will consist of six epic episodes. Each episode will have a runtime of about 50 minutes. The new reimagining of the iconic show focuses on six individual dinosaur stories including Spinosaurus in Morocco, Triceratops in North America and Lusotitan in Portugal. The series will have its premiere on PBS in the US on the 16th of June, there is no confirmation of the release date schedule for other countries yet.

Bringing Dinosaurs to a New Generation
The new series brings the Walking With franchise back for a new generation who were not around twenty-six years ago. The documentary series incorporates the latest scientific research and palaeontological information to display the stories of the dinosaurs beyond their fossils. With sequences on the ground with palaeontologists discovering the life history of these amazing creatures through fossil excavation.

As the dinosaur’s life history is uncovered from the rock, the series will travel back through time to the past, bringing the dinosaurs to life using advanced CGI and the latest scientific understanding.
Dinosaurs Brought to Life

In the BBC Media Press Release Andrew Cohen, Executive Producer at the BBC Studios Science Unit had this to say about the documentary show:
“We are incredibly excited to be bringing Walking With Dinosaurs to a whole new generation of audiences around the world. Brought to life with the very latest cutting-edge science, world class VFX and the world’s best science storytellers, this is the ultimate dinosaur show. Partnering with PBS and our other co-producers around the world, ZDF and France Télévisions this is ambitious, entertaining, factual television that will have audiences having their hearts in their mouth one moment and their minds blown the next.”
Trailer Thoughts
I have to say I think the trailer looks great. As I predicted in my previous article, I thought the trailer would display the palaeontological excavations taking place leading into showing how the dinosaur’s stories will unfold. I am incredibly excited for the new series.

Overall, the trailer looks solid, and I am looking forward to sitting down to watch the series through all six episodes. I will be looking to review the series once it airs delving into the science, palaeontological depictions displayed and more.
It is fantastic to see the Walking With Dinosaurs franchise back in a big way. It has been a long time coming and it is good to see another dinosaur documentary series differentiate itself from the others that are already out there.
The Walking With Franchise
The Walking With series has grown a lot over the years becoming its own franchise. Following the success of Walking With Dinosaurs in 1999, Walking With Beasts released in 2001 and was also critically acclaimed at the time. The franchise expanded with the sequel series Walking With Cavemen in 2003. The series returned to the big screen in 2013 with Walking With Dinosaurs 3D, a film set in the Late Cretaceous period, 70 million years ago. The film featured talking dinosaurs and followed the story of a young Pachyrhinosaurus trying to survive.

Now we have Walking With Dinosaurs 2025! It is an exciting time to be a dinosaur enthusiast, palaeontology enthusiast and documentary fan. We have been fortunate to see some great palaeo focused documentaries over the past few years from Prehistoric Planet to Life on Our Planet. I just hope Walking With Dinosaurs 2025 can exceed the expectations of fans across the world, engaging its audience in the latest scientific research, palaeontological evidence and scientific theories.
I’ll be looking to delve into Walking With Dinosaurs 2025 after its release. Until then you can keep up to date with the latest palaeo/dinosaur content from me by exploring the website and in the blog posts below.
