In this article I share new information about the upcoming summer 2025 Jurassic World film and give my thoughts on the exclusive details.
Some unexpected further details have emerged for the upcoming Jurassic World film titled Jurassic World: Rebirth directed by Gareth Edwards and executive produced by Steven Spielberg.
I have to admit I was quite surprised to see that they have dropped the new logo, a few film images and also the synopsis for the film. You can check out the new announcement video below!

So, we have our new logo! The title suggests a new story direction for the film franchise going forward. You can find out more about that in the below section.

The description does give away spoilers about the film so if you want to go in not knowing the key plot points, now is the time to check out other pages of the website!
A new era is born.
Next summer, three years after the Jurassic World trilogy concluded with each film surpassing $1 billion at the global box office, the enduring Jurassic series evolves in an ingenious new direction with Jurassic World Rebirth.
Also starring acclaimed international stars Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, the film is directed by dynamic visualist Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) from a script by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp.
Anchored by iconic action superstar Scarlett Johansson, breakthrough talent Jonathan Bailey and two-time Oscar® winner Mahershala Ali, this action-packed new chapter sees an intrepid team racing to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air.

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
Academy Award® nominee Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs.
Ali is Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s most trusted team leader; Emmy nominee and Olivier Award winner Jonathan Bailey (Wicked, Bridgerton) plays palaeontologist Dr. Henry Loomis; Emmy nominee Rupert Friend (Homeland, Obi-Wan Kenobi) appears as Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer, Murder on the Orient Express) plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked civilian family.
When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.

The cast includes Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty) and Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez) as Reuben’s family. The film also features, as members of Zora and Krebs’ crews, Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF) and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
YouTube Description Thoughts
Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by BAFTA winner Edwards from a script by Koepp (War of the Worlds), based on characters created by Michael Crichton. The film is produced by Oscar® nominee Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, both longtime Jurassic franchise producers and of this summer’s blockbuster, Twisters. The film is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer.
Now I have to admit I am quite surprised how much Universal/Amblin have given away here in terms of plot details so far ahead of the film’s release. I am very intrigued though! For starters the film takes place five years after Jurassic World: Dominion so it puts to rest a lot of claims that have been circulating online the past five months that this was a complete reboot.
Something I am very happy about from what is stated in the description information is that the film seems to be going back to the roots of the original novels. I can image the film might cover the whole dinosaur migration, adaptation in warmer climates, eating lysine rich food etc. It will not surprise me if we see some of these story points from the original novels on display in the film.
Palaeontological consultant for Jurassic World: Rebirth Professor Steve Brusatte also had this to say about the upcoming film on Twitter.
The New Characters
Most surprisingly for me is the new characters the film will introduce in that none of them as far as I am aware have appeared in any Jurassic media at all, including the original novels.
They are all completely new characters with Scarlett Johansson playing skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, Mahershala Ali playing Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s team leader and Jonathan Bailey playing another new palaeontologist for the Jurassic franchise Dr. Henry Loomis.
It would not be a Jurassic World/Jurassic Park film without a palaeontologist in the film in some capacity, so I am interested to see how Dr. Henry Loomis expertise contributes to the films overall story.
I am optimistic about the direction of this new Jurassic World film. You can check out my past article about how Jurassic World: Rebirth could help answer scientific questions on screen here.
Website Development
I have recently added a new Montana fossil discoveries page to the fossil finds section of the website covering fossils I excavated during fieldwork in Montana. You can also find out more about my palaeontology research at the research page which details the palaeontology projects I have done before and during my Masters.
For dinosaur palaeobiology information you can check out the dinosaur fact file tab, which displays scientific information on some of the non-hadrosaurid ornithischian and hadrosaurid specimens analysed in my MSc research. You can also find all my science communication links at the scicomm links page of the website.
