In this article you can find out the episode list for the upcoming Netflix documentary series Life on Our Planet, dropping this October.

Life on Our Planet drops in six weeks and this news seems to have passed everyone by and I figured I had to cover it here on the blog. I managed to track down the Life on Our Planet episode list and synopsis. Life on Our Planet is a series I am very hyped for, and the titles listed below have only further cemented this for me.

The episode titles and their individual synopsis below is courtesy of whattowatch. l have looked to verify whether they are correct, currently Netflix do not have the episodes titles listed. IMDB and Wikipedia have however been updated recently with the titles below. It is therefore unlikely that the titles listed below are false as they are quite specific.

If you are not familiar with Life on Our Planet the show is a new documentary series focusing on prehistoric life which will be shown on Netflix, created by Silverback Films in collaboration with Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg is the executive producer with Morgan Freeman narrating the series.

The information below is courtesy of whattowatch. There are eight episodes in total and all of them will be dropping at once on October 25th.

Chapter 1: The Rules of Life – “The battle for survival has been raging for four billion years. This is the story of life’s winners and losers. This is the story of Life On Our Planet.”

Chapter 2: The First Frontier – “For billions of years, much of our world was fiercely inhospitable, ravaged by the elements and the forces of nature. This is the story of what was happening beneath the waves. There, shielded from the storms, life had miraculously taken hold.”

Chapter 3: Invaders of the Land “Life began in the oceans, but its battle to conquer the land would change our planet forever. From a barren wasteland to a green oasis, the transformation took millions of years. But where life could find a way to leave the water, it did.”

Chapter 4: In Cold Blood – “After the biggest extinction event in history, this is the story of the unexpected heroes who survived – only to then succumb to a new dynasty of reptilian giants.”

Chapter 5: In the Shadow of Giants – “Dinosaurs ruled our world for over 100 million years, but in the shadow of these giants some of the most incredible animals we know today found their footing.”

Chapter 6: Out of the Ashes – “The dramatic story of the day the dinosaurs were wiped out by a planet-killing asteroid and the ride of the most unlikely survivors in the aftermath of the apocalypse.”

Chapter 7: Inheriting the Earth – “This is the story of the rise of our dynasty: the mammals. Once bullied by the dinosaurs, the chance cataclysm caused by the asteroid gives them the chance to step out of the shadows and into the light – a chance they grabbed onto and never let go.”

Chapter 8: Age of Ice and Fire – “Two and a half million years ago, an ice age struck. With it, temperatures dropped, and vast ice sheets took over much of the north. But from this frozen wilderness would rise a new force, the most dangerous animal of all.”

If the above titles and synopsis are true then this is incredibly exciting, and I cannot wait to catch the full series at the end of October. The good news is each episode hopefully will be focusing on distinct aspects of geological time, which means there will be a variety of landscapes, creatures and events being focused on in each episode.

We have seen this already from the trailers released, the chapter titles and synopsis seem further proof that the series will be spending time in more than one era for at least one episode each. I had a few people mention to me their concerns mammals might only be shown in a short segment, but chapters titles seven and eight seem to suggest otherwise.

We will have to wait and see, but these title provide a lot of hope that a variety of Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic fauna will have their time to shine on screen.

You can check out the Life on Our Planet teaser trailer below. The teaser trailer has already amassed over 1.6 million views.

With only six weeks left to go there is not long to wait now until Life on Our Planet drops on Netflix. Be sure to mark your calendars if you have not already done so, so you do not miss the documentary series dropping near the end of October.
